A dificuldade em fazer o pet se alimentar adequadamente é uma queixa comum na prática clínica de cães e gatos e, quando ocorre de forma frequente e prolongada, pode levar a consequências negativas à saúde do animal devido a ingestão insuficiente de calorias e nutrientes, perda de peso e perda de massa muscular (1). Tal fato se torna ainda mais preocupante em gatos, uma vez que possuem maior propensão a desenvolver lipidose hepática após períodos de nutrição inadequada (2).
